Vance T drove in four runs on two hits to lead PIRATES past MARINERS 10-5 on Thursday at Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA. Vance doubled in the second inning, scoring three runs, and singled in the fourth inning, scoring one.
MARINERS got on the board in the top of the first inning after Maxwell A doubled down the left field line, and Cal G singled up the middle, each scoring one run.
Trevor H singled down the left field line, which helped PIRATES tie the game at two in the bottom of the first.
MARINERS took the lead in the top of the second. An error scored one run, to give MARINERS the upper hand, 3-2.
A double by Vance gave PIRATES the lead, 5-3, in the bottom of the second.
PIRATES scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Jackson A drew a walk, scoring one run, Vance singled, scoring one run, Kaleb H drew a walk, scoring one run, Trevor drew a walk, scoring one run, and Anya S singled, scoring one run.
Will B stepped on the mound first for PIRATES. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and two runs, one earned, over one inning, striking out three and walking none. Nicholas R started on the bump for MARINERS. The starting pitcher surrendered three hits and two runs over one and one-third innings, striking out three and walking two. Gunnar Z, Kaleb, and Vance each appeared in relief for PIRATES.
PIRATES tallied 13 hits in the game. Gunnar set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading PIRATES with three hits in four at bats. Trevor and Jackson each collected multiple hits for PIRATES. PIRATES had patience at the plate, accumulating nine walks for the game. Owen C and Kaleb led the team with two walks each.
Cal, Nicholas, Maxwell, and Alistair D each collected one hit for MARINERS. Cal, Samuel Wong, Maxwell, and Rowan R each drove in one run for MARINERS. MARINERS were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Nicholas had the most chances in the field with four.
