Strong hitting not enough against Padres

PIRATES fell 12-10 to PADRES on Thursday at 200 Saxony Rd despite out-hitting them eight to two. Gunnar Z, Trevor H, Kaleb H, and Vance T each collected two hits for PIRATES.

PIRATES got on the board in the first inning after Trevor doubled, scoring one run.

PADRES captured the lead, 4-1, in the bottom of the first when Duke B doubled, an error scored two runs, and Dane W drew a walk. PADRES added on in the second and third before scoring five runs in the bottom of the fourth.

PIRATES scored five runs on one hit in the top of the fifth. Owen C drew a walk, Gunnar doubled, and Kaleb hit into a fielder's choice as the Pirates pushed the game tight late.

Vance opened the game for PIRATES. The pitcher allowed one hit and six runs over one and one-third innings, striking out four and walking eight. Holden W stepped on the hill first for PADRES, giving up three hits and one run over three innings.

Kaleb provided pop in the middle of the lineup and led PIRATES with three runs batted in. The catcher went 2-for-3 on the day.
