The Pirates opened with two wins, took a hard 12-10 hit from the Padres, then sailed through the consolation side to force the championship rematch. This time, the crew answered aye, aye and finished the voyage: Pirates 10, Padres 4.
Hoist the Cone
The Pirates had their own rally cry.
Every crew needs a flag. For these Pirates, it was the cone. Pittsburgh's version turned a traffic cone into a clubhouse rally symbol for creating traffic on the bases. This team made it their own during the playoff comeback.
